1. Amalfi Coast



One of the places you should never miss is the Amalfi Coast. The Amalfi Coast is a magnificent town on the coast and it is a very popular town in the country. It is definitely the place to go if you are into Positano’s luxury beauty. With wonderful pebble (and occasionally sandy) beaches, as well as interesting culture and history, the town has something for everyone. Amalfi has been a major maritime force in the region since at least the 6th century, and it is rich in historical significance and gorgeous medieval architecture. It's also in the center of the coast, around 40 minutes from Sorrento in one direction and 40 minutes from Salerno in the other, giving it an ideal location for day trips to Capri Island or smaller villages to the east and west.


2. Pompeii 



Pompeii in Italy is another very famous destination that is watched out by a lot of travelers. It is located near the Italian shore in the modern-day region of Campania. The city is easily accessible from popular base places, being roughly 250 kilometers from Rome and only 23 kilometers from Naples. Because it just takes a few hours of driving to get there, the bulk of visitors is day-trippers. And due to its proximity to the looming Mount Vesuvius, many visitors combine their visit to Pompeii with a visit to the famed volcano. And because of this title, more and more people have been eyeing this destination. This city is located in the extreme south and it is the region's primary hub. It is mostly known for its lovely light Lecce Stone. This lovely Lecce Stone has been utilized to construct most of the city's structures, giving another reason for Lecce’s mesmerizing sights. 


The gorgeous Basilica di Santa Croce, the Cattedrale dell'Assunzione della Virgine, Lecce Castello, and the historic Roman Amphitheatre are all worth visiting. Not only that but the Piazza del Duomo and the Piazza Sant'Oronzo are two different and beautiful squares in Lecce. Good thing, it is also friendly to all people. So If historical structures aren't your thing and you may feel slightly bored with it, you can always relax in the beautiful Villa Comunale gardens or visit the Faggiano Museum's excavations.


4. Catanzaro 

The next destination you should never forget to drop by if you’re in Italy is Catanzaro. If you’re the type who likes relaxing parks or would prefer to do physical activities, then Catanzaro is definitely your place. Catanzaro, located in the mountains but extending down to the seaside, is one of the most prominent cities on the dog leg of Italy. Its popularity is attributed to the Biodiversity Park. This park includes huge botanical gardens, a military museum, and a children's playground. Truly is it one of Catanzaro's most remarkable landmarks. It is friendly for children, adults, and senior citizens. It gives just the chill vibes you need. 


If you travel outside of town, you'll come across the lovely Cascata Campanaro, which is surrounded by hiking paths and beautiful scenery. The Ponte Bisantis spans the Fiumaerlla river and is a beautiful sight. It is one of the most important architectural structures in Southern Italy. Apart from parks, bridges, and natural scenery, Catanzaro also has a fantastic beach, Catanzaro Lido, for visitors who want to relax.


5. Barletta

If you’re into beautiful architectural structures, Barletta is a place you will definitely enjoy. Not only does it have the best sights for the eyes but the breeze and its whole atmosphere adds to its beauty too. In the further up part of the eastern coast of Italy, you can find the city of Barletta.


This port is a great place to relax and enjoy the beaches and fine Adriatic climate, but also has a host of interesting sites and attractions. The main point of interest is the immense Castello Svevo – this castle was constructed during the Norman period and has a fantastic design and impressive battlements. You don’t always see beaches and castles in the same place so it’s definitely a rare sight to see.

If you enjoy walking, the Lungomare Pietro Mennea and the Lido provide opportunities to stretch your legs and take in the sea breeze. This area of Barletta is well maintained and geared for tourists and those wishing to enjoy a day at the beach. Barletta also has several interesting museums and lies in close proximity to Andria and Trani which are two other wonderful destinations that you can go to after your visit to Barletta. Truly, the country of Italy never has too many beautiful destinations.
