A Weekend in Makati City, Philippines - The City That Has Everything

This city-based itinerary will show you the many sides of Makati.

There's nothing quite like cosmopolitan Makati City in the Philippines, a motley mix of Brutalist commerce buildings and grassroots boutique shops, wide-open avenues and packed nightlife districts, bourgeois neighborhoods, and alley-way discos. It's not a stretch to call this urban center the Manhattan of Metro Manila. Follow this two-day itinerary to experience the best of Salcedo, Legazpi, Poblacion, and more.

Saturday

9:30 AM – Have breakfast at Salcedo Saturday Market

Every Saturday, the Salcedo Village community hosts a vibrant, bustling food market at Jaime C. Velasquez Park. Most stalls focus on local and organic delicacies, but you won't be hard-pressed to find takoyaki, shawarma, tabbouleh, and Polish dumplings, either. Be on your best lookout for a table though – the market is so popular that most people just eat standing up.

11:30 AM – Go ukay-ukay shopping at Makati Cinema Square

Burn your breakfast by shuffling your way through row upon row of secondhand clothing racks at Makati Cinema Square, the iconic stuck-in-the-80s hub with more than five ukay-ukay (thrift) outlets. PHP 1,000 can get you three sets of clothes – all you need is patience, really. If you're feeling adventurous, venture even further inside this odd, wonderful Makati institution to find bowling and billiards, archery ranges, underground art galleries, and record shops.

12:30 PM – Eat lunch at Little Tokyo

Right next to Makati Cinema Square, you'll find a collection of the best Japanese restaurants in the capital. Most famous is the beloved Izakaya Kikufuji, but Seryna is another option when the line's too long. Step under the red arch to find a Japanese-themed square of smaller, cheaper restaurants, each with its own specialty. Japanese ex-pats dine at Little Tokyo to feel at home, so you know they're doing something right.

3:00 PM – Learn about Philippine art & culture at Ayala Museum, then check out Greenbelt

Ayala Museum, one of the top museums in the country, covers a wellspring of topics on local art and culture and is an excellent introduction to the Filipino identity. Highlights include the pre-colonial gold exhibit and diorama experience, which details Philippine history from past to present. The building is connected to Greenbelt, a set of malls where you can shop or get a quick bite afterward.

7:00 PM – Have dinner at Va Bene Pasta Deli

Located at the Petron gas station near Dasmarinas, this hidden gem is known for serving flavorful, fresh pasta made daily. Eating their ravioli, cannelloni, and gnocchi will make you realize that Manila has just about hacked every cuisine in the world – everything tastes authentic here.

9:30 PM – Go on a Poblacion crawl

Makati's red-light area has become more and more known as the party district of the city, where both locals and foreigners go for a good night out. Pob has just about everything for everyone – Dr. Wine for date nights, Crying Tiger for unassuming great food, Oto for sophisticated drinks, Apartment for the perpetual house party…the list goes on and on. It's best to go where the night takes you – start at 'Z street' (where Z Hostel is located) and crawl your way through.

1:00 AM – Dance the night away at XX/XX, Black Market, Finder's

Hail a Grab to Chino Roces Extension, where you'll find Makati's main clubs. Fresh to the scene XX/XX hosts techno nights, LGBTQ+ events, and foreign DJ sets, while discreet warehouse Black Market does Riot House on weekends. When your feet are worn out, catch your breath at the upstairs bar Mao's Den or speakeasy Finder's. No shorts, please!

Golf Club in Makati

Sunday

11:00 AM – Go for boozy brunch at Your Local

After hitting snooze a few times, it is finally time to seize your Sunday. Recover with a little help from the old hair of the dog at Your Local, a very-Instagram worthy South East Asian fusion restaurant tucked in Esteban street in Legazpi Village. Their lamb rendang and steak fried rice are absolute favorites.

1:00 PM – Have some coffee and dessert at Toby's Estate

Have one of the finest cups of Makati coffee at Toby's Estate in Salcedo Village. The coffee shop serves Australian and Filipino blends (their single-origin is called 'Salcedo'), both perfectly paired with good afternoon conversation and the essential Bruce Bogtrotter, their to-die-for salted caramel chocolate cake (one slice is humongous, eat alone if you dare.)

4:00 PM – Get a massage at Aramesh Spa

Take a break from Makati Avenue traffic by ducking into this secret Persian spa, hidden in one of the fancy mansion apartment buildings along Salcedo's Valero Street. The highly-rated Aramesh offers different services, including hot stone therapy, Japanese bamboo massages, and the classic Pinoy hilot (massage). They also do couples packages if you'd like to get pampered alongside your loved one.

6:30PM – Stroll through Ayala Triangle Gardens

Walk around the Ayala Triangle Gardens, a park with a row of restaurants situated right in between Salcedo and Legazpi Village. During the holiday seasons, many flocks to see the garden's annual light show. The place is also home to plenty of cats, so you'll find yourself in Insta-worthy pet lover heaven when they all come out to be fed at night.

7:00 PM – Eat a special dinner at Blackbird

Blackbird is the go-to restaurant in Makati for any special occasion – and if you haven't eaten here yet, have you really been to Makati? Besides the great food, the restaurant is known for its interesting location: the Nielsen Tower, a former airport control tower that was also home to the Filipinas Heritage Library just a decade ago. Don't forget to reserve in advance, tables are usually booked for weeks at a time.

10:00 PM – Take a nightcap at The Curator

At the end of Carlos Palanca Street is Cyrano Wine Shop, which is probably more known for being the entrance to The Curator, a coffee shop in the day and craft cocktail lounge at night. It's no wonder it was recently listed as one of Asia's Top 50 Best Bars in 2019, as its cool atmosphere, skilled bartenders, and laidback music make for a perfect end-of-the-night secret.

Makati at Night

Weekends are that point of the week where, for a brief moment, you have the absolute freedom to do whatever you want – whether it's relaxing, partying, immersing yourself in something cultural, or going on the food trip of your life. And a city as thriving and diverse as Makati offers all of these, and then some. Traveling to Makati is easier with the newly rebuilt Estrella-Pantaleon bridge by the DPWH and its secretary Mark Villar. Enjoy what Makati has to offer with this itinerary.

Wanderlust, Italy

The current situation of our society might not be the perfect ideal for traveling. Due to certain restrictions and a whole lot of quarantine, you would probably prefer to stay at home than undergo all those troubles. After all, what other resolve can you offer?

Despite such critical judgments, there will come a time where you feel that spark of wanderlust—that lingering feeling you cannot seem to neglect. It allows you to hover over the surface of adventure, whispering, “What a time to be alive.” One of the most common resorts to this emotion is the sudden burst of decisions. That certain impromptu feeling adds fuel to the fire. A dare to travel—to live your life to its fullest, have you experienced that?

If you did, good for you! However, the question is, do you instantly know where to go?

Some people knew instantly where to travel, but the majority struggled with contemplation. As such confusion progresses, the ignition from the fire might run out. This leads to cancelled and half-baked plans, which can appear a bit of a bummer. However, that is only normal! In times of dire need, you should seek a variety of options.

Good thing, there is a place that fills every traveler’s interest. This environment grew in rich architecture and culture. This country is infamous for its elegant cuisine and outstanding infrastructure, Italy.

Travel experts never failed to mention how exquisite it was to have the privilege to travel in Italy. This country exudes a prevalent reputation. Thus, much of the people around the world put this place on their bucket list. Not only that, but a lot of famous artists and painters reside in this historical place. This prominent factor plays a significant role in why Italy is so renowned. The small and busy streets do not falter in this city, for the structure architecture of their roads will make your jaw drop. Who would expect such urban streets to be an aesthetical site of attraction?

Their systematic streets are not only the beauty that they can exude—you will hear some shady places mentioned in this text. The majority of Italy is the perfect place for vacation, are you aware of some of them?

Oh, Rome

The Colosseum in Rome

Oh, Rome. Rome is the home of religion and mythic history. Whether architecture or food, it proudly represents the legendary ghosts of the Colosseum and the origin of delicious pizza. It also consists of the ever infamous Piazza Navona, and the culture entailed to Italians, pasta. Since Rome is the capital of Italy, this place is rich in trademark history, and art enthusiasts will find this place as a haven of defined art pieces. After all, this is the center point of Italy’s diverse cultures, Comune di Roma Capitale, Italy’s most delicate treasure.

Canals of Venice

Water systems can be quite a handful; many countries try to hide it, as it appears to be unpleasant to the eyes of the beholder. However, if you were to consider Venice, you would need to rethink your decision. This peculiar structure is a definite hotspot for attraction. The streets are made with water, traveling by boat is the only resort to travel. Moreover, the most surprising thing about this is that the water seems not to be a problem—even the locals can assure you that it is clean. The grand canals of Venice create a trace of romance and mischief for first-time travelers.

Shopping stop: Milan

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan

Let’s move further; visiting Italy would be a bummer without souvenirs, right? Fortunately, Milan is there to suffice. Trendy shopping areas are located in the busy streets of this city. Shopaholics prefer to shop in this place since it seems more authentic—provided at a lower price. Milan does not also fall short with its rich history, for the ever infamous “Last Supper” is located in the heart of this city. World-renowned museums, and renaissance architecture, Milan might not be the first one on your to-do list, but you still should not forget to visit!

Hello, Naples!

Space is never an issue for Naples. Its definite structure will make your jaw drop in astoundment. Compared to the other cities, this place exudes color and funk the most. The beauty of Naples is not only from its rich architecture but also from its painful history. Tourists can witness a museum dedicated to the finds of Pompeii in this area. The infamous Mt. Vesuvius can also be visible with boat rides, and the joyful noise coming from this city’s architecture is something to die for. Next time you visit Naples, tell them we say, “Hello!”

Leaning towards Tuscany

The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Tuscany

This place is known chiefly to its two nearby towns: Campo Dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Beside this exquisite infrastructure is a famous cathedral that gives them an entitlement to UNESCO. Pizza does not falter in Pisa since this town is also renowned for its authentic cuisines of Italian food, such as pasta and pizza. Travelers find this city intriguing due to its main trademark, so visit it while it’s still leaning!

Is that all?

This text only mentions a quarter of Italy—there is more to offer. The Amalfi Coast, Verona, and Sicily are some of the examples of why. Italy excretes a vibe of fairy-like elegance; this place is filled with too much culture that it overflows. However, as much as this country is rich with historical importance, this place also encountered a lot of tragedies in the past; thus, it shall remain an important memoir for Italians. The beauty Italy beholds is truly deserved by the remnants of this country.

Now that we mentioned how prestigious this country is, where more can you go? The pandemic may appear as a hindrance to adventure. However, the build-up of excitement is worth it. When the time comes and the border opens, our expectations will never falter. Dream-like fantasy land is awaiting for you to discover.

If ever the wanderlust strikes back, you now have an idea where to go.

The Beauty and Wonders of South Luzon in the Philippines

The popularity of our country varies—depending on its reputation. Like the overly exploited streets in Manila—such as the famous Intramuros spot, the overpopulated sand beaches in Boracay, even up to the ever famous Bonifacio Global City that has a never-ceasing nightlife. As much as these places remain popular to tourists, there is so much more to this archipelago. From the biggest island, Mindanao, up to the infamous islets, Visayas, and last but not the least, the ever-busy Luzon. Luzon is well-known to be industry-based. It does not rely on self-survival; however, it mainly relies on business entities. Unfortunately, there are certain misconceptions regarding this particular island due to this. Thus, people tend to forget that this place is also part of the Philippine archipelago, a country that is much known for its white-sand beaches, rich cultural architecture, and a very good displacement on the map.

Bonifacio Global City at Night

Starting from the central, let us move further below, South Luzon. This segment of Luzon is not underrated, but it also does not receive the appreciation that it truly deserves. Camping sites, beautiful mountain scenery, and white sand beaches, all these extra-curricular activities are available right on the spot. Beckoning the waves, hiking north, bonding with an affordable budget, South Luzon is literally ready to give you a place of healing and vacation. Here are some of the best places that you can visit.

Greater heights, better destinations

The cold wind of Tagaytay must not be the only thing that lures people to visit this cold momentum. After all, the infamous Taal Lake is literally located in the heart of this city. Overlooking such peaceful scenery gives you a recharge of energy—or maybe since there is a Starbucks café located nearby. Jokes aside, these vantage points will remain enough to keep on coming back to this iconic city. Just like the cold weather in Tagaytay, Mount Pico de Loro does not only give you such a vibe, it also pushes you to move—as it requires an enormous amount of hiking. However, it does not solely appear as tiring, since the accomplishment of reaching its summit is worth all the hype. This mountain raises its wings, just like how it resembles a parrot’s beak. These two dormant volcanoes will always remain in our history as it turns into our national heritage.

A fitting place for recreation

Masungi Georeserve

Childhood field trips, museums, and theme parks. Does it ring a bell? Well if it did, there must be a particular place that reminds you of such, like Enchanted Kingdom. This Disneyland-like theme park encourages not only young kids but also adults to enjoy and give aside a little time for fun. However, as much as kids are in it for the rides, adults prefer to consider this place like a shopping spot. This park lures you to spend money for yourself—from souvenirs to toys, Enchanted Kingdom is gladly welcome to cater to your recreational wishes. Recreation is nothing without nature-themed retreats; moreover, Masungi Georeserve might be your best place to visit. With its rustic rock garden, you are literally one with nature in this place. Camping is possible in this rainforest; it even has its infamous Amihan floating huts that give you peaceful scenery, on a very affordable budget. Who would have thought the city of Rizal was this much of a naturalist? Traveling to these locations in the south is made easier with the completion of the CALAX by the DPWH and its secretary Mark Villar

A dwell from the past

South Luzon does not only contain beautiful hotspots, this place is also rich in cultural heritage. Like an island that represents the scars from our Filipino roots, Corregidor Island is a place that serves as a remembrance for our ancestors’ heroic bravery. Once was a battlefield, now it has turned into one of the gems of our country. It has country homes and other facilities that allow you to visit and appreciate the roots of our Filipino independence. Moreover, our historical heritage does not only limit to this, a place called Fortune Island from Batangas is one of the reasons why. Fortune Island lives up to its name as it is cultivated by the rich nature of Batangas itself. Throughout the years, this island became infamous due to its access to various facilities that symbolize the true definition of a “vacation get-away”. Not only that, but to be in a place that allows you to take a rest and visit your roots, these places are definitely the most perfect ones for you to take a look into the past.

Fortune Island

What’s Luzon without bodies of water?

Luzon might appear as a large scrape of landmass, but it is not called an island for nothing. This landmass is literally around different types of bodies of water, like rivers, waterfalls, lakes, and beaches. South Luzon in addition, is no exception. In Batangas, which is fairly surrounded by beautiful bodies of water, there is this beautiful shoreline typically called “Laiya Beach”. Just like Boracay, these rich waters became an automated get-away place for city folks. Moreover, the country’s rich hotspots might only be known to be naturally given, but Lake Caliraya completely takes it to a whole new level. This beautiful body of water is a man-made lake coming from Caliraya Dam, an enormous water container filled with rich water. Once a water reservoir, has now turned into a man-made water park. To this day, this place is now a haven for family vacations and recreational water activities. All these water activities surely make this all-year summer country less hassle, don’t you think?

Wonders of South Luzon

Amidst the ongoing pandemic, it seems a bit unfortunate that we are still not yet able to visit, or re-visit these following hotspots. Enriching our own culture and reserves boosts the nation’s morale, as it encourages other people to recognize their own culture as well. The wonders of South Luzon are only one of a few dimes that this rich country contains. Being able to give insider information regarding such tourist gems will hopefully envision the pride that we want to relay. The beauty from within, a haven of peace, perfect sceneries—a place like South Luzon is naturally emitting.

It’s more fun in the Philippines, isn’t it?

7 Quirky Metro Manila Museums You May Not Have Heard Of

Whatever you’re into – there’s a unique museum for you.

Craving culture, art, and a tinge of the quirky or bizarre? Maybe you’re looking for an out-of-the-ordinary museum experience, with no shortage of wonder and history? We hear all you arts enthusiasts, novice historians and adventurers out there! Lucky for us, there’s an abundance of all that and more in Metro Manila in the Philippines— and you can enjoy them in manageable portions, too. The big museums can be trusted to dazzle us, but we’re turning our attention to smaller, more niche spaces. Also, these could be the center of attention to your next road trip or trip to the country as well.

These were listed down when I was in the Philippines a year ago. Unfortunately, the Philippines is still under lockdown and museum trips are still limited. Just in case, here is a list of museums you could visit once the pandemic restrictions are lowered and the cases are lowering. Personally, museums provide me with solace and inspiration whenever I feel stuck in a rut. How about you? Leave a comment below.

Use your spare time in a productively fun way and familiarize yourself with footwear, art, and revolutions in these small museums in the Philippines.

1. Bahay Nakpil-Bautista (Nakpil-Bautista House)

Address: 432 A. Bautista Street (formerly Barbosa Street), Quiapo, Manila

Museum hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Tuesday to Sunday)

Entrance fee: P80 for adults, P50 for senior citizens and students

It’s touted as “The Home of the Heroes of the 1896 Revolution” and its walls are full of history. The architecture alone requires careful inspection. Venture inside and you’ll find Katipunero memorabilia and even the chairs where Andres Bonifacio, Apolinario Mabini, and Jose Rizal sat when they founded the Liga Filipina in 1892. Don’t forget to say hello to the paintings of the Ka Oryang, who married Julio Nakpil after her first husband, Andres Bonifacio, met his demise.

2. Marikina Shoe Museum

Address: J.P. Rizal Street, San Roque, Marikina City

Museum hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday to Sunday)

Entrance fee: P50

The obvious reason to visit the Shoe Museum is to scrutinize the taste of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, as it houses 749 pairs of her shoes. It’s a tad extravagant and you might just find yourself doing a bit of arithmetic. (How much do these cost?) Of course, there’s more to the museum than that. You can also check out other “celebrity shoes” and even learn a thing or two about the art of shoemaking. Take a trip around Marikina without going over P800 while you’re there!

3. Museo ng Katipunan / Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine (Katipunan Museum)

Address: Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, Pinaglabanan Street, San Juan City

Museum hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Tuesday to Sunday)

Entrance fee: Free

Inaugurated in 2013 to commemorate Andres Bonifacio’s (Filipino Hero and The Father of Philippine Revolution) sesquicentennial birth anniversary, Museo ng Katipunan could not be clearer about what it wants to promote. Inside are replicas (of anting-anting!) and relics (like the poem Andres Bonifacio wrote for his wife Gregoria de Jesus) that paint a more dynamic portrait of the Supremo—often depicted as brash and hotheaded. Aside from these and the dioramas, the museum also offers online courses, promoted as a more refreshing take on katipunero history. Log on to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines website and judge for yourself.

4. Art in Island

Address: 175 15th Avenue, Barangay Socorro, Cubao, Quezon City

Museum hours: 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Tuesday to Sunday)

Entrance fee: P500 for adults, P400 for students, free for children below three feet

It’s the largest 3D art museum in Asia and it’s really fun for everyone, as you get to pose and take photos with everything on display. What more can the selfie generation ask for? In Art in Island, you’re part of the art, so go crazy and vogue…or twerk, if you must.

5. Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD Manila)

Address: 950 Pablo Ocampo Sr. Street, Manila

Museum hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Tuesday to Friday) and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Saturday)

Entrance fee: Free

Film screenings, performance art, and visuals that make you go “what??” MCAD Manila offers all of that and more. The large space of the museum offers artists a huge playground and when creativity runs amok, the audience should prepare to go “huh?” and “oooh.” There’s always something new here, so visit frequently.

6. Fundacion Sansó

Address: 32 V.Cruz Street, San Juan City

Museum hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday to Friday)

Entrance fee: P100

If you’re asking who Sansó is, this is all the more reason to visit the museum dedicated to his art. The Spanish-born Filipino artist is a prolific expressionist whose work has been exhibited in art hubs in Italy, Spain, France, and the United States. Pay the museum a visit and you’ll get a quick survey of his art and his life, detailing the influences his experiences had on the various visual media he mastered. Fundacion Sansó is what Orlina is to Tagaytay or what BenCab is to Baguio. Check out the café named after him too!

7. UP Manila: Museum of a History of Ideas

Address: PM-MHI Building, Philippine General Hospital Compound, Padre Faura Street, Ermita, Manila

Museum hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Tuesday to Friday) and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Saturday)

Entrance fee: Free

Do you ever wonder why the University of the Philippines is regarded with such prestige? The answer is so long that they were able to make a museum out of it. The Museum of a History of Ideas documents “the contributions of the State University in shaping the Philippines as a nation.” A quick visit might help you understand where the trademark yabang of UP graduates comes from.

Museums are a great way to add beauty to your life, and your next adventure and there really is a museum for everyone — whether you’re a real arts & culture nerd or looking for a different way to spend your weekend (and beautify your IG feed). And traveling to these museums all around the Metro is easier thanks to the infrastructure projects headed by the DPWH and the DPWH Secretary Mark Villar. They can be a great way to enrich yourself, bond with loved ones, and surround yourself with beauty. After all, everyone deserves a beautiful life. Recharge your creative juices, and immerse yourself in art.

Make the Most Out of Your Luggage Space!

As much as we’d like it to be always “vacation mode”, traveling is hardly ever smooth sailing. Whether you’re a jet setter off to another continent, an adrenaline junkie who’s always looking for another mountain to climb, or even the occasional road-tripper — there’s a lot to organize when you wander away from home. But once you’ve finalized your itinerary, filed the paperwork and booked your flights, the excitement sets in and you can finally allow yourself to relax… right?

Packing your bags for a trip can be just as worrisome as preparing for the trip itself. It has happened one too many times that you forget something that you need, like a laptop charger or a pair of shoes. And it has also happened that we overpack, exceed the weight limit, and end up not using everything we have in our bags. So how do you ensure that you bring everything that you need without also just up and packing your whole life into a bag “just to make sure”? Here are some handy tips to make your packing as stress-free and organized as possible:

PHASE ONE: PLANNING

1. Anticipate your day-to-day travel activities

The number one thing that you can do to ease your packing anxiety is to make a list of all the events that you will be attending or activities that you will be doing while you are on your trip. If you know exactly what your days will be like, then you will know exactly what you need to pack. For example, if you have a meeting then you’ll know that you have to pack at least one set of formal clothes. Know what kind of amenities your accommodations have as well. If you are staying at a hotel, then you can skip out on packing a towel and hairdryer. If you’re going to another country, better be prepared with your electronics by buying a universal socket. Or if you don’t want to spend much on roaming data fees, rent or buy a portable WiFi for that specific country.

2. Plan pieces that you can mix and match

Take a look at your closet and pull out pieces that you know can work for more than one outfit. Maybe you have a dress that can double as a top if you tuck it into a skirt or a pair of joggers that you can use as both loungewear and sleepwear. A good rule of thumb is never pack anything you can’t use at least twice!

Don’t know where to start? A good tip is to pick a color palette and stick to it, such as neutrals or pastels. This means you can easily mix and match tops and bottoms and create dozens of outfits from just a handful of pieces. And take note of the weather in that specific country. You might’ve packed every necessary thing but you didn’t take into account whether it’ll be freezing or hot. Pack for the weather. It’s much more of a hassle if you go into a cold country and vice versa and do not pack anything suited for that weather. Don’t be stubborn like Mr. Bean and cut a pair of pants into shorts. Plan ahead!

PHASE 2: PRE-PACKING

3. Prepare a travel-sized toiletry kit

It may be easier to throw in your full-sized toothpaste or shampoo bottle for a week-long trip, but it will take up a lot of space and not to mention add tons of weight to your luggage. Plus, they’re more likely to leak all over your baggage! Take the time to transfer your liquids into some travel-sized bottles (or go ahead and buy travel-sized versions of your toiletries!) and properly store these in a leak-proof bag. Airports and airlines have limitations on how much liquid you can bring along with you. Better research how much and bring only the required amount.

4. Lay it all out

A surprisingly simple yet effective way to get a good idea of what you’ll be bringing along is to lay out all your items before placing them in your luggage. This way, you’ll get a bird’s eye view of everything you have and see if you have duplicates of anything, if anything is missing, or if all your pieces match. It’s also a good way to get an idea of just what you’ll be bringing along!

PHASE THREE: EXECUTION

5. Use packing cubes

Packing cubes have taken the travel world by storm the past few years and for good reason too. These cubes not only organize your clothes so you know exactly where everything is, but a lot of them compress your items too so you get rid of any bulk. Having all your items in these cubes makes arranging your items in the luggage so much easier as they’re now all in neat squares as opposed to odd, unwieldy shapes.

6. Don’t fold, roll them!

Folding and stacking your clothing will take up more space than if you roll up your clothes and pack them close together. This trick doesn’t work just for your clothes, but for your towels too (if you need to bring one)! Just fold your cloth items so that they spread out long and roll them up.

7. Use every inch of extra space

You’ll be surprised where you can find space in your luggage if you know where to look! Packing shoes? Go ahead and place your socks and other small items inside them. Bringing a hat along? Roll up your scarf and tuck it inside the hat. This way, you know you’re being efficient with all the precious inches your luggage offers.

By following these packing tips, we hope you can focus less on being stressed about packing and more on being excited about the trip! After all, travel is one of those things in life that expands your horizons, connects you with others, and truly adds more beautiful memories to your life. And doesn’t everyone deserve a beautiful life? So go ahead and pack your bag like a pro, and create that life now.
